As members of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) we follow the AASW Code of Ethics (2010) in our practice. We are based in Melbourne, Australia, and our work is governed by the laws of Victoria. This includes:
Privacy and confidentiality
We respect the rights of clients to a relationship of trust, to privacy and confidentiality of their information. In addition to this, we do not keep notes on any of our clients.
Conflict of interest and professional boundaries
We will consider carefully the potential for professional conflicts of interest where close personal relationships, social, business relationships with colleagues are contemplated or existing.
Where dual or multiple relationships with clients, former clients, research participants, students, supervisees or colleagues exist, or are unavoidable, we will set and enforce explicit, appropriate professional boundaries to minimise the risk of conflict of interest, exploitation or harm.
